Question: I am not sure of how to start - I have never hired a Nanny before.
Answer: When you are ready – chat to us, we can walk you through the process.
We can go over the aspects where you might need more information to make an informed decision.
Chat through some of your fears and answer your questions.
You might choose not to hire a Nanny through Happy Helpers, but we are always willing to assist parents who need support.
Question: Is the Nanny suitably trained to work with infant and toddlers?
Answer: We will take a brief from you.
The profiles we provide will be focussed on the area which is important to you.
Many of our candidates have infant and toddler training – and have gained 5 – 10 years working experience in full time permanent postions, in private homes often in a child focussed role.
Question: I would like the person to have previous training in First Aid – do you supply candidates like this?
Answer: We recruit candidates who have training in childcare.
Usually this comes with a CPR/First Aid certificate. We do encourage the employer to keep this updated and have the Nanny upgraded every two years, so her CPR training remains current.
Question: How does it work in terms of reference checking?
Answer: We do extensive checks during the interview phase.
Often many of these checks are completed before we meet with the candidate.
We also verify the documents we receive due to the high incidence of fraudulent documents which are readily available on the market.
Question: I am nervous to interview someone, what if I pick the wrong person?
Answer: Interviews are often stressful for everyone concerned.
Not all candidates perform well at interviews - often they are nervous, and a wonderful candidate might interview badly.
We do not expect clients or candidates to be professional interviewers/interviewees.
The CVs and the supporting paperwork we supply adds a great deal of information, that assists you in the selection process, and the interview process.
You are not building a CV in the interview process or verifying information.
You are interviewing to see if the person is a good fit for your home, and your family
Interviews are about whether you "click" with that person.
You often just feel a connection - and it is difficult to explain - but you know it when you feel it.
Candidates do not always have to be "right questions - right answer" situations.
You will often realise 5 minutes into the interview if this person is potentially the RIGHT PERSON for you.
We encourage families to do a trial after the itnerview process is completed.
Having someone working in your home for two or three day,
will tell you very quickly if this is potentially the right fit.
We are wth you and supporting you every step of the way.
